Different Hair Styles?

i am in the 8th grade and am bored of my hair style. I have straight, dirty blond hair and it comes down about 1 inch below my solders. it don't want it to be cut too short, but need something different when i get to the salon. do have any ideas? Maybe just layers and a bang like maybe side bangs? Layers always make hair look better in my opinion!
