Layers and side-bangs are always a do! You might want to look at Lauren Conrad (other Hills' girls styles that are similar) or some Hollister/Abercrombie%26amp;Fitch models and imitate their hairstyles. Maybe even some Gossip Girl styles too!! The key is to making the hairstyles casual..but luxury-looking.

Well i think a clean preppy look would be maybe blonde or light brown color and shoulder length layered with side swept bangs. I know you wanted it long but preppy needs a clean classic look. Also starighten your hair often or every day.
